New Moon: The Story So Far...

Bella is this right mardy cow who moves to the small town of Forks to live with her Dad. They have an awkward relationship which he tries to improve by buying her a shitty old truck. She drives said truck to her new school where she comes across the Cullen family all of whom are very good looking if a bit pale. There's one in particular who catches her eye. This is Edward.

As luck would have it, Bella and Edward end up sitting next to each other in biology class. To begin with he looks like he's going to throw up at any minute. Secretly this reaction is actually because he would quite like to drink her blood.

Bella already thinks Edward is quite weird when he manages to stop a massive truck crushing her to death in the school car park with one hand. One hand!! Already suspicious, Bella's friend Jake tips her off that there might be some vampires living in Forks - I wonder who they could be...

Eventually Bella figures it all out and for a while it's all fine and dandy. In fact, they both fall totally in love with each other - ah. Trouble is, there's some other vampires passing through Forks who aren't as nice as the Cullens (who don't eat people by the way). This other vampire coven (technical term FYI) have been killing people - one of them, this nasty bastard called James gets a whiff of Bella and because he's a tracker (like a bloodhound I guess) he wants to eat her.

Uh-oh!! Bella has to leave Forks to throw him off the scent but he's a clever bugger and pretends to kidnap Bella's Mum in order to trap her. There's a big fight but eventually Edward rescues her - not before she's been bitten though. The rest of the Cullens rip James' head off and burn him.

The movie ends with the school prom (of course). Jake pops up again to tell Bella to break up with Edward. Bella wants Edward to turn her into a vampire so they can be together forever and she doesn't get old. Oh and right at the end - one of those mean vampires - a girl one, is still hanging around.

Music: Lady Gaga - Bad Romance (Video)

I suggest you sit down before you watch this. It really is something else!

Totally epic. Where do I start?!

The orange hair? Seems as good a place as any, it's a shocker - those weird eyes look like the kids off of the drug driving advert. The whole thing is a product placement frenzy but it does nothing to harm the video. As we've come to expect from The Ga - she manages to look like about six entirely different people. THAT BALD CAT!!!!! Argh!!!! She looks beautiful in the close up shots with the long blonde hair (not the cat, The Ga). Her spine is a bit weird in the naked stairwell moments. Lots of diamonds. The gold outfit with those shoes that look incredibly painful. THE POLAR BEAR RUG! THE END!!!!

Absolutely amazing. Reaction from around the blogosphere tomorrow. Phew...

Music: Leighton Meester - Somebody To Love (Video)

Here's the video for Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester's debut single. It's really grown on me in the last couple of weeks - I like the understated euro feel to it, kind of reminds me of 'One Word' by Kelly Osbourne.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon

The world is on the verge of going totally fucking crazy for vampires with the release of the second film in the Twilight saga 'New Moon' at the end of next week.

Between now and then TRW will give you the low down on the story so far and exactly what all this 'Team Edward' and 'Team Jacob' nonsense is all about.

Until then, check out this trailer for a taste of what's to come:

Music: Lady Gaga - Dance In The Dark

Wow! Another new Lady Gaga song was released to various iTunes stores around the world yesterday (not UK). Dance In The Dark is a big synthy pop tune, a bit darker than some of her other efforts. Have a listen and as always let me know what you think.

TV: A Beginner's Guide To Glee

The hit US series Glee is coming to E4 early next year. The story of the kids of William McKinley High's show choir has fast become one of my favourite TV shows of all time.

Written by the people behind Nip/Tuck, Glee is far removed from the Disney franchise it is so frequently and lazily compared with.

This extended preview of the series is a good starting point for any new fan:

The cast is made up of a wide array of characters, many completely unique and, where there are signs of a cliche, the show isn't afraid to make fun of itself and exploit those characters to it's advantage.

There's Rachel Berry (right), the truly talented star of Glee club who spends her life being bullied by the cheerleaders (Cheerios) and having slushies thrown in her face by members of the football team. Finn Hudson steps in as the male lead - he's the quarterback who ends up being blackmailed into joining the club, really enjoys it and then has to deal with the struggle of balancing his lives.

Other stars of the choir include Kurt Hummel, a flamboyant gay boy in designer clothes harbouring a secret love for Finn and the hot hot hot Noah 'Puck' Puckerman - he's Finn's best friend, likes shagging his peers mothers and, despite renaming Glee club 'Homo Exlposion', ends up joining the club.

Glee isn't just about the kids though, the adult cast of teachers are half the fun. Matthew Morrison play Will Schuester - the Spanish teacher who takes on Glee club following the indiscretions of it's previous leader. He's like an ageing Justin Timberlake who shares the same dream as the club's members of eventually being somebody.

His wife Terri is a super bitch who fakes a pregnancy in an attempt to keep their marriage together.

Complicating matters is Emma Pilsbury, the mysophobic school guidance councillor who is very much in love with Will and it looks as though the feeling is mutual.

Finally, the hilarious Sue Sylvester who is the award winning team coach of the Cheerios. It is Sue's main aim to destroy Glee club, especially when some of her best Cheerios join the team. She also has a spot on the local news channel and a seemingly infinite supply of colour co-ordinated tracksuits. You will love Sue.

So far in Glee, without spoiling it, there's been a teen pregnancy, a fake pregnancy, a coming out, some making out and lots of singing. As you might have guessed, music is a very big part of Glee.

The first of two soundtracks to the show has just been released in the US and every week new songs have been made available on iTunes. A DVD release of the first 13 episodes is due at the end of the year.

You can catch Glee on E4 in the UK early 2010.

The X Factor: Movie Week Preview and Song List

Here we go again then! This week is the halfway mark of the live finals - I'm not brilliant at maths but Dannii said so on The Xtra Factor and who am I to doubt her?!

[BIG VOICEOVER MAN VOICE]

It's Movie Week!

Let's hope it's all a bit better than the frankly quite boring series of performances we were subjected to on last week's show. We'll get to the song list in a minute but first a few of the stories making the headlines...

Jamie threatened to quit the show because Simon won't let him go on tour with Bon Jovi. Unfortunately he's not going to. It would have made my day to be a fly on the wall at the first night of the Bon Jovi gigs at the O2 next summer seeing little Jamie Afro at the backstage door trying to explain who he was and that "Jon promised I could come and sing a song...boo hoo etc.".

Lloyd still has a bad throat.

John and Edward are still amazing and very much the favourites to win.

So then, here is what they are all singing:

Joe McElderry – Circle Of Life (The Lion King) <-- could be a make or break performance

Lucie Jones: rumoured to also be a Disney track - as yet unconfirmed

Jamie Archer – Unchained Melody (Ghost) <-- go home!

Olly Murs – Twist and Shout (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) <-- this won't exactly break the mould

Stacey Soloman – Son Of A Preacher Man (Pulp Fiction) <-- potential brilliance

Danyl Johnson – Purple Rain <-- will it be better than Ruth Lorenzo's version??

John and Edward – Ghostbusters (Ghostbusters) <-- I already know it will be the best performance!

It looks as thought the movie theme is being interpreted fairly broadly, as in any song which has featured in a movie ever. I would prefer it to be a bit more Flashdance, Footloose, Grease tastic - I mean there's not even a High School Musical song in there.
